Two Laddey Clark & Ryan Attorneys to Speak at New Jersey State Bar Association 2019 Annual Meeting and Convention

Two Laddey Clark & Ryan attorneys presented at the New Jersey State Bar Association 2019 Annual Meeting and Convention, May 15-17, in Atlantic City.

Andrew A. Fraser was part of two panel discussions.  In “Trustworthy Techniques in Personal Injury Cases: Jury Selection and Opening Statements,” he was one of two Board Certified Civil Trial Attorneys to discuss jury selection and opening statements.  In this program, on the Certified Civil Trial Attorneys track, he represented the plaintiff side while another attorney represented defendants’ attorneys.

In “Mining for Gold:  Uncovering and Defending Injuries and Damages in Auto Cases,” as part of the Civil Litigation track, Mr. Fraser and other panelists shared insights into uncovering sometimes hidden injuries and conditions that maximize recoveries in injury cases and find issues that lead to successful defense of injury claims.

On May 15, Jonathan N. Frodella was part of a panel on “Public Access to Police Records:  Balancing Government Transparency and Personal Privacy,” as part of the Criminal Litigation and Technology tracks.  The panel provided an update on the law regarding access to various types of police records under OPRA and the common law, including recent court decisions on dash cameras, body cameras, surveillance cameras, internal affairs records, and use of force reports. The panel also discussed how recent developments in technology have resulted in police departments capturing more and more moments on film that may implicate privacy interests and how courts have balanced the interest in transparency and the public’s right to know against an individual’s reasonable expectation of privacy.
